STIMULANTIA: "DANIEL" EPISODE
(1967)

SUMMARY

Bergman's contribution to the Swedish omnibus film Stimulantia was a compilation of 16mm "home movie" footage he had shot several years earlier of his young son Daniel, now a film director himself. "I wanted to give Daniel a present on his second birthday—a testament, something he could have when he grew up...When I made the film I thought it worked well. But the reaction to it was completely negative. So obviously something was wrong somewhere" (Bergman).
