INGMAR BERGMAN DIES AT 89

Bergman laid to rest
18 August 2007—Ingmar Bergman was buried in a private ceremony on the island of Fårö. Local media reports only a small circle of family and friends attended. Read the BBC report.

Tributes for Bergman
30 July 2007—Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt paid tribute to Ingmar Bergman, who died on Monday morning aged 89, as one the "world's great dramatists," the TT news agency reported. In a statement distributed by TT, Reinfeldt said: "His work is immortal. I hope that his legacy will be preserved for a long time and that it will be built on." The enormous significance of Bergman's contribution to film and theatre in Sweden and other countries was hard to grasp, Reinfeldt said.

CANADIAN FILM INSTITUTE

EVA DAHLBECK DIES AT 87

Eva Dahlbeck Eva Dahlbeck, best remembered for her performances in Bergman comedies such as Smiles of a Summer Night, has died in Stockholm on 8 February at age 87. Read the Guardian and Washington Post obituaries.

IN WASHINGTON
